PARTICIPATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Uni League Private Limited (“Company/we/our”) has been set up to inter alia promote cricket, amongst university students in the country, and has accordingly conceptualized a T20 cricket tournament proposed to be called ‘Uni League Cricket’ (“League”), wherein male students, aged 18 and above, enrolled in a college/university and pursuing an undergraduate and/or a postgraduate course shall participate.

The League is an innovative grassroot initiative which aims to identify, nurture and advance cricketing talent.

For the selection of players that shall form a part of the teams which will participate in the League, the Company shall organize and conduct trials in multiple cities across India (here in after referred to as the “Trials”).

In order to provide a streamlined method for Trials’ registration, ticketing, notices, dates, venues, communication, scheduling of events, and information for the Trials and the League, the Company has created the website www.theunileague.com.

These Terms of Participation must be read in conjunction with the Privacy Policy and Website Terms of Use.

  1. Acceptance of Terms of Participation

    1. Any interested individual may register for the Trials by completing the registration form available on the Website and submitting all required details as specified therein.
    2. By registering for the Trials, the participant acknowledges that he has read, understood, and agreed to these Participation Terms and Conditions and consent to comply with all provisions set forth herein.
    3. In these Terms of Participation, unless the context requires otherwise, words importing the singular shall include the plural and vice versa, and solely where the context so requires words importing any gender shall include all genders. If these Terms of Participation conflict with any other document, these Terms of Participation will prevail for the registration procedure of the Trials.
    4. If the participant does not agree to all or any of the Terms of Participation, we recommend the participant withdraws from the registration procedure.
    5. These Terms of Participation constitute an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000, and its relevant provisions. It is generated by a computer system and does not require physical or digital signatures.
  2. Eligibility for Acceptance

    1. The Company retains the right to terminate a particpant’s eligibility to participate or deny access to the Trials, if it comes to our attention or if there is a reasonable belief, that a participant is incompetent to contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872.
  3. Eligibility Criteria

    1. Participants must be above 18 years at the time of registration.
    2. Participants must be enrolled in a recognized college or university in India or abroad and pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate course.
    3. Proof of age, identity, and enrolment in the institution shall be required and must be provided immediately (maximum time 30 minutes from the time the request is raised) upon request.
  4. Registration Process for Trials

    The participant acknowledges that the below mentioned procedures shall be followed to complete the registration process for the Trials by each participant:

    1. Participant shall be required to visit the Website and click on the ‘Register Now’ option to initiate the registration process.
    2. The participant must along with the filled up Form, submit copies of his valid Student ID, Aadhar Card.
    3. The required one-time registration fee must be paid through the third-party payment gateway provided on the Website. The payment must be completed along with submission of the Form and upon receipt of such payment is when the Form will be deemed as successfully completed.
    4. All fees paid are non-refundable under any circumstances whatsoever.
    5. Each participant is required to furnish all requested information in the Form. The Company reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to reject any incomplete Forms without any obligation to provide a reason or refund of any fees paid.
    6. The participant will receive an official confirmation message via email and/or SMS to the email address and mobile number provided in the Form. This message shall include details regarding the Trial venue, timings, and other necessary information. This confirmation message must be retained and presented as proof at the Trial venue to validate the participant’s eligibility to attend the Trials.
    7. The participant shall be notified by the Company with all relevant details pertaining to the Trial. The participant shall be required to travel to the designated venue in the selected city, at the time of filling the Form, for participation in the Trials. The city that has been selected by the participant cannot be changed after submission of the Form. All expenses related to travel, lodging, boarding, and any other associated costs shall be solely borne by the participant.
    8. Additionally, updates regarding Trial venues and timings shall be announced on the Website and the official social media accounts of the League. Participants are required to regularly monitor these platforms for the latest information concerning the Trials. Failure to do so may result in missing critical information.
  5. Participation Guidelines

    1. In addition to the details outlined in the Form, the following criteria must be adhered to during the registration process for and participation in the Trials and thereafter:
      1. Each participant shall complete all required fields in the Form with accurate and truthful information. Failure to provide correct, accurate and true details may result in disqualification from participation in the Trials.
      2. Any participant who does not use appropriate equipment while participating in the Trials may suffer the risk of disqualification and such disqualification shall be at the sole discretion of the selection committee appointed for the purpose of the Trials.
      3. There shall be no addition and/or replacement for participation in the Trials after the registration deadline.
      4. There shall be no re-scheduling or change of time of the Trials, except at the sole discretion of the Company, and no requests with regards to the same shall be entertained from any participant / third party.
      5. In the event any age fraud/manipulation of age proofs, that has been submitted by the participant, is discovered by or brought to the attention of the Company, at any time, such participant shall be disqualified from participating in the Trials and/or League and further action may be taken at the sole discretion of the Company authorities.
      6. For the foregoing purposes, the participant consents and agrees that at any time, the Company may, at its sole discretion, conduct an age verification test of the participant.
      7. Participants must refrain from ingesting, inhaling, or otherwise consuming any performance-enhancing drugs or banned substances.
      8. Cigarettes, Alcohol bottles, lighters, matchboxes, cans, any audio-visual recording equipment, and banned substances are strictly prohibited.
      9. If a participant is found to have violated the self-declaration mentioned in the Form, his registration will be immediately cancelled.
      10. The participant shall not engage in any form of ‘ambush marketing’ on Trial days or at the venue and shall not conduct any activity that conflicts with/detracts from or infringes the rights of any official sponsor, licensee, or commercial partner.
      11. The participant shall not attempt to exercise undue influence and/or conduct, carry out, or cause to be conducted or carried out any form of betting or gambling, whatsoever, within the venue (including, to avoid doubt, facilitating the conduct of any form of betting or gambling, whether inside or outside the venue, by transmitting from within the venue, by any method, details of a match or any element of a match to a third party).
      12. Participants are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from their university or college, if applicable.
    2. The participant agrees and acknowledges that any violation of the aforementioned criteria may result in immediate cancellation of his registration or disqualification at any stage of the Trials/League, and further action may be taken at the sole discretion of the Company.
    3. In addition to these Terms of Participation, entry to the venue shall be subject to any ground regulations specific to the venue.
  6. Selection Guidelines

    1. The participant agrees and acknowledges that participation in the Trials does not guarantee selection for the League.
    2. Trials will be conducted city-wise, with a selection committee and League management present at each venue.
    3. The participants must arrive at the Trial venue 30 (thirty) minutes before the scheduled time, with proof of registration, an original copy of the Aadhaar Card and original College ID.  If the participant is absent on the day of the Trial and/or when his name is called out at the Trial, no second chance will be provided.
    4. If any participant fails to report within 10 (ten) minutes of the name being announced the selection committee will have full right to disqualify such participant, at their sole discretion.
    5. The participant data (score, strike rate, run rate) will be recorded and used for shortlisting selections based on merit as evaluated by the selection committee.
    6. The selection committee will assess the performance of participants during the Trials, and the selection in a team will be as per the criteria determined by the selection committee.
    7. Participants are expected to carry their own equipment for the purpose of Trials. All playing gear must comply with the regulations set by the League management. Equipment that does not meet these standards will not be permitted during Trials.
    8. Selected participants will receive an official confirmation message via email and/or SMS to the email address and mobile number provided in the Form. The final list of selected participants will also be published on the Website.
    9. The selection committee’s decisions shall be final and binding on all participants.
  7. Selection Committee

    1. The selection committee shall assess and identify the most talented participants to form a part of the teams that shall participate in the upcoming season of the League. The selection committee will consist of experienced professionals from the cricket fraternity (coaches, players, mentors, administrators, etc., as) appointed by the League management/Company. The selection committee will evaluate participants based on a range of criteria, ensuring a balanced selection process, as follows:
      1. Technical Skills
      2. Physical Fitness
      3. Tactical Awareness
      4. Consistency and Form
      5. Cultural fit and ability to get with teams’ ethos
  8. League Management

    1. The League management will operate as an independent body appointed by the Company to oversee each event in relation to the League, including Trials. The League management shall have the authority to handle all matters and be responsible for overseeing the general aspects in relation to the League, including but not limited to:
      1. Disciplinary issues and player conduct.
      2. Resolution of on-filed disputes.
      3. Scheduling of matches.
      4. Any other League-related matters.
    2. The participant agrees and acknowledges that the League management’s decision on these matters shall be final and binding.
  9. Medical Fitness and Risk Acknowledgement

    1. The participant certifies that he is in good health and physically fit to participate in the Trials and has no known medical conditions that would prevent safe participation. The participant understands that the activities in the Trials involve risks of serious injury, including permanent disability, paralysis, and death. The participant fully and completely accepts and assumes all such risks and responsibility for losses, costs, and damages that may occur as a result of his participation in the Trials. In the event of an injury or medical emergency, the participant authorizes the Company/League management to seek medical attention on his behalf, and the participant agrees to cover any costs incurred for such medical services.
    2. The participant agrees and acknowledges that the Company and/or the League itself does not provide insurance coverage or any emergency and that it is the participant’s responsibility to have appropriate health and accident insurance coverage during his participation in the Trials.
  10. Health and Safety

    1. The League management is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all participants during the Trials. To this end:
      1. Basic first aid services will be available at all venues, and provided by qualified personnel. A first aid kit will be on-site, stocked with essential supplies.
      2. An ambulance will be on standby at all venues to respond quickly to any medical emergencies that may arise.
    2. All participants are encouraged to be aware of their health and safety, including reporting any injuries or health concerns to the first aid personnel immediately. All participants are expected to comply with health and safety guidelines set forth by League management.
    3. Although every precaution will be taken to ensure safety, participants engage in each event of the League, including Trials, at their own risk. The participants voluntarily assume all risk and danger incidental to the Trials whether occurring before, during, or subsequent to the actual Trial. The League management is not responsible for any injuries that may occur during League events.
  11. Anti-Corruption Policy

    1. The participant (whether directly or indirectly) shall be deemed to violate the Terms of Participation if they engage in or are involved in any of the following:
      1. Betting or encouraging others to bet on any match or aspect of the Trials/League.
      2. Engaging in financial speculation or gambling related to Trials/League.
      3. Attempting to manipulate or influence the outcome of a match or any aspect of the Trials/League.
      4. Encouraging other participants to underperform for personal or financial gain.
      5. Receiving or offering money, benefits, or rewards (financial or otherwise) for insider information, unless provided to the media through an authorized and disclosed agreement.
      6. Failing to report any approach, threat, or knowledge of others engaging in corrupt activities.
      7. Participating in any conduct deemed harmful to the integrity of cricket by the Company.
  12. Media Rights and Intellectual Property Rights

    1. The Company shall have the right to photograph and/or film all matches of the Trials, however, the Company is not obligated to provide any participant such photographs and/or videos.
    2. The participant grants to the Company a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use his name, image, likeness, voice, and performance in the Trials (collectively, “Content”) for promotional, broadcasting, and archival purposes related to the Trials/League, without any compensation.
    3. The participant further acknowledges and agrees that all intellectual property rights in relation to each event of the League, including but not limited to trademarks, logos, broadcast rights, and any content created by or on behalf of the Company, shall belong exclusively to the Company in perpetuity. The participant agrees to not claim any ownership rights over such intellectual property nor shall the partcipant use such intellectual property without the express written permission of the Company.
  13. The participant agrees to pay damages and to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Company, its mentors, coaches, employees, agents, volunteers, the League management, the selection committee, its subsidiaries, affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, and agents from any and all claims, proceedings, liabilities, actions, accidents, death, injury, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees) to person or property arising from (i) his participation in the Trials, (ii) any breach of these Terms of Participation, (iii) any wilful negligence or Misconduct, and (iv) any claim arising from non-compliance with applicable laws, rules, or regulations by the participant.

  14. The events under the Trial shall be governed and monitored by the Company. All protests shall be addressed and submitted to [email protected], in writing, along with the protest fee of INR. 999/- (Indian Rupees One Thousand, only), within 24 (twenty-four) hours of the issue of protest coming to the attention of such protesting party. The Company shall endeavour to resolve all disputes within a period of 48 (forty-eight) hours. The protest fee shall be refunded in the event the protest is accepted and upheld and in the event of a false claim/accusation, there shall be no refund of such protest fee. No protests, except those submitted in accordance with the procedure as mentioned herein, shall be entertained by the Company.

  15. The Company shall not be responsible for any goods/property that may be lost during participation in the Trials and/or events of the League, and the participant shall be solely responsible for safeguarding his goods/property. If any damage occurs due to the actions of the participant and/or any other individual accompanying the participant, the participant shall be responsible for the payment and repair of such damage.

  17. Code of Conduct

    1. Cricket is a game that owes much of its unique appeal to the fact that it should be played not only within its laws but also within the spirit of the game. Any action that is seen to abuse this spirit causes injury to the game itself. The Company has a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of Misconduct, and any participant found guilty of Misconduct shall be disqualified from participating in the Trials, banned from all future events of the Company, and/or entering any venue under the control of the Company. “Misconduct” shall include without limitation, behaviour by a participant that violates the rules, ethics, or standards of the League, theft, fraud, insult, humiliate, intimidate, verbal abuse, comments on the individual based on their race, sex, gender, religion, culture, colour, descent, nationality or ethnic origin, deliberate damage to the Company property or the event venue, violation of these terms and conditions, violation of sports rules, violation of applicable laws, match-fixing or any other gambling activities, use of banned substances, and any other serious or persistent conduct that disrupts the integrity of the game or the safety of other individuals or conduct / actions the Company reasonably considers as amounting to misconduct in its sole discretion.
    2. The participant agrees to adhere to the Company’s code of conduct, at all times, during participation in any event held in relation to the League, including respecting officials, coaches, mentors, opponents, and the spirit of the game. Any Misconduct on the part of the coach, parent and/or individual accompanying the participant may result in the participant not being allowed on the field of play throughout the Trial / event in relation to the League.
  18. The frequently asked questions aim to address common queries and provide clarity on various aspects of the League, ensuring all participants have the information they need to enjoy a smooth and successful participation in the League.
  19. The participant understands and agrees that, in case the Trials are cancelled due to circumstances beyond the control of the Company, including but not limited to riots, civil commotion, war, pandemic, epidemic, acts of god, court order, or any notification of Central, State, or Local Governments, the registration fee paid by a participant is non-refundable. The Company shall make reasonable efforts to reschedule the Trials or any affected parts if impacted by such force majeure events, but it is not obligated to do so.
  20. The Company reserves the right to modify these Terms of Participation and the Trials’ structure, at any time, at its sole discretion. Any changes shall be communicated to the participant via email and posted on the official Website and the participant waives the right to receive further notice of these changes. By continuing to participate in the Trials, the participant accepts and agrees to the updated and most recent version of the Terms of Participation. If the participant does not agree to the revised terms, the participant must withdraw his participation from the Trials.
  21. These Terms of Participation shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai.
